New York Cluster Apartments, Brooklyn, NY

In a bid to promote energy efficiency and improve indoor air quality, eFlow Constant Airflow Regulators have been installed in the New York Cluster Apartments, located at 190 Essex Street, 221 Vermont Street, and 581 Belmont Avenue in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn.  These three newly constructed three-story residential buildings, designed by Delacour, Ferrara & Church Architects, provide a total of 42 units.

eFlow-CARs 3″ at 25 CFM were installed at every apartment exhaust. The installation of the eFlow Constant Airflow Regulators is part of the Neighborhood Construction Program (NCP) and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program of the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development. eFlow-CARs help to maintain a constant airflow, which enhances the building’s overall ventilation performance and improves indoor air quality.

The implementation of the eFlow Constant Airflow Regulators in the New York Cluster Apartments is a significant step towards achieving energy efficiency and sustainability in the affordable housing sector. The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development hopes that this initiative will inspire other developers to adopt similar technologies to promote healthier and more energy-efficient homes.

New Residential Building at 63 Pitt Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side Features eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators for Improved Indoor Air Quality and Energy Efficiency.

A newly completed 12-story residential building located at 63 Pitt Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side features cutting-edge eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators for automatically balanced ventilation, ensuring improved indoor air quality and energy efficiency for its 59 rental apartments. The building, designed by Frank Quatela Architects and developed by Paul Stallings of 6 Strong Realty LLC, includes 18 homes designated for affordable housing, providing much-needed housing options for the community. The property was built in 2022, with First Standard Construction serving as the general contractor.

The eFlow Constant Airflow Regulators, which were installed throughout the building, are designed to ensure that each apartment has consistent airflow and ventilation, even as conditions within the building and individual units change. This helps to maintain a comfortable living environment while also improving indoor air quality and energy efficiency. The technology is particularly important in high-rise buildings, where air pressure differences can create imbalances in airflow. eFlow-CAR’s  3″ and 4″ were installed utilizing custom 6″ x 6″  and 8″ x 8″ CAR mounting plate for exhaust application.

The manufacturers representative, Mechanical Technologies,  facilitated the sale of eFlow products for this project.

344 East 28th Street, New York, NY

Another NYCHA building to install eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators!

344 East 28th Street is a towering residential complex located in New York City, comprising 26 floors and 225 units ranging from 1 to 4 bedrooms. Built in 1971, it is home to around 450 residents who primarily fall under the low- and extremely-low-income bracket.

This building is part of The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) which is a government agency that provides affordable housing to low- and moderate-income New Yorkers. It is the largest public housing authority in North America, serving over 400,000 residents in over 300 developments across the five boroughs of New York City.

As with most multi-unit buildings, energy conservation is a primary concern for 344 East 28th Street. To address this issue, eFlow Constant Airflow Regulators were installed to ensure the proper balance of ventilation and reduce energy usage. To facilitate this installation, eFlow provided custom 6”x4” mounting plates to accommodate 3” CAR at 25 CFM as well as 6″x4″ fire dampers in every apartment exhaust.

The project’s architectural design was led by SLM Architecture, while Monadnock Construction assumed the role of general contractor. The MEP engineering work was handled by Dagher Engineering, while eFlow collaborates with Rehab and Design Construction Corp. to provide eFlow products for the project. eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulator (CAR) is a low-cost solution for balancing ventilation systems, eliminating the need for on-site balancing and ongoing maintenance. The Constant Airflow Regulator’s control of airflow is essential to optimize energy consumption while providing good air quality. eFlow-CARs are  UL 2043 Classified (R38307) devices that automatically adjust to environmental changes in stack pressure and accurately regulate airflow. Melrose North, 341 E. 162nd Street, Bronx, NY

About Melrose North

Designed to Passive House and LEED Gold standards, Melrose North will significantly reduce environmental impact and provide a healthy living environment. The specifications for this building will meet community goals and will ensure that the project will remain financially viable in the long-term. Steven Winter Associates, Inc. is providing consulting and verification services to help meet Passive House, LEEDv4 standards and requirements. This includes ensuring primary energy conservation measurements; 1.solar photovoltaics 2.optimized hydronic heating 3.unique window design 4.energy recovery ventilation. Installation of eFlow -Constant Airflow Regulators is a proven measure to help meet standards for successful Passive House and LEED certification by ensuring that the building achieves optimal energy recovery ventilation.

This 154, 500 SF project is being developed  through a partnership between  Bronx Pro Group and the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA). This development will provide 171 units of supportive and affordable housing, 103 units of which will be set aside for homeless households. The remaining 67 units will be allocated to  households earning at or below 80 percent of area median income. Curtis + Ginsberg Architects is responsible for the design of the 14-story building, which will include 51 studio apartments, 53 one-bedroom apartments, 55 two-bedroom apartments, and 11 three-bedroom apartments. There will be one additional unit for a live-in superintendent. Skyline Engineering is the MEP design engineer for this project.

Marble Hall Apartments, 100 Columbus Ave, Tuckahoe, NY

As part of $5.78 million updates, Marble Hall Apartments installed eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators (CARs).

Located at 100 Columbus Avenue, Marble Hall is a ten-story affordable rental building which offers 133 units for those earning no more than 60 percent area median income, plus an employee unit for a total of 134 units.

LIHC Investment Group and Silver Street Development Corporation devoted $5.78 million to renovate the 50-year-old building and extend its useful life. Special attention was paid to improving the property’s energy efficiency which included installation of eFlow-CARs 4” at 40 CFM in every kitchen and bathroom exhaust, the replacement of heat and hot water boilers with energy-efficient units, Energy Star Qualified LED lighting.

Another rental building located at 200 East 17th street in NYC features eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators (CARs).

This 7 story, 56 apartment building was originally built in 1959. As part of a large retrofit project,  eFlow-CARs 4″ at 35 CFM  were installed in every apartment for automatically balanced ventilation, high indoor air quality and energy savings.

Installation of eFlow-CAR was undertaken by Remediation Specialists Inc (RSI).

335 E 111th Street, NYC

Another NYCHA affordable housing building located at 335 East 111th street in NYC features eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators (CARs).

This 6 story, 66 apartment building was originally built in 1969. It got much needed repairs as part of New York Housing Authority’s Permanent Affordability Commitment Together (PACT) program. The improvements included new bathrooms, kitchens, replacements of heating systems and installation of eFlow-CARs 3″ at 25 CFM  in each apartment for automatically balanced ventilation, high indoor air quality and energy savings.

Installation of eFlow-CAR was undertaken by Indoor Air Quality Champs, Inc.

1555 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

1555 Bedford Avenue building located in Crown Heights, NY features eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators.

This 13-story, 354 units apartment building was part of redevelopment of the century-old Bedford-Union Armory. This affordable housing and recreational community initiative was led by NYC Economic Development Corporation.

eFlow-CAR 4″ at 25 CFM and 50 CFM were installed in all bathroom and kitchen exhausts for automatically balanced ventilation, high indoor air quality and energy savings.

Harrison Albany, Boston, MA

Over 1,000 eFlow-CARs will be featured at Harrison Albany building 2, also known as “The Smith”. 

Construction on 710,000 square foot Harrison Albany Block development in the heart of Boston’s South End neighborhood started back in 2018. This 710-unit housing complex is the largest residential projects to break ground in the city’s history. Building 1 consists of 460,000 sq/ft, 483 units, 19 stories with a rooftop terrace and 2,000 sq/ft of retail space on the ground floor. Building 2 consists of 246,000 sq/ft, 227 units, 11 stories and 3,800 sq/ft of retail space on the ground floor. Some 71 of the 710 residential units will be defined affordable.

eFlow-CAR 4″ (10-30 CFM) and eFlow-CAR 4″ (30-60 CFM) are being installed at all apartment exhausts and eFlow-CAR 6″, 8″ 10″ are being utilized for supply application. eFlow-CAR is a simple solution to balancing ventilation systems. Constant Airflow Regulator is a device that automatically regulates airflows in ventilation systems to constant levels. The passive control element responds to duct pressure, and requires no electric sensors, pneumatic sensors or controls. eFlow-CARs promote high indoor air quality and energy savings.

This building was designed by CBT Architect. Suffolk Construction is the general contractor, R.W. Sullivan is the MEP engineer on this project.

Installation of eFlow-CARs is undertaken by Quality Air Metal Inc.

The manufacturers representative, Air distribution Corp.  facilitated the sale of eFlow products for this project.

The Smith building 1 was awarded LEED Silver certification. The Smith is the first multi-family project to achieve Multi-Family Residential v2.1 certification. Building 2 is aiming for the same certification  with expected completion date of early 2023.

We are happy to announce that Sven building located in Long Island City, NY is officially LEED v4 Platinum certified!

About Sven

Opened in 2022, Sven is a 71-story residential tower owned and developed by the Durst Organization. It was  designed by Handel Architects, with Selldorf Architects in charge of the project’s interior, lobby, and amenities. The engineering firm Jaros, Baum & Bolles (JB&B) and  The Fulcrum Group provided mechanical engineering services. HRCG-Hunter Roberts construction group carried out the construction of the project.   Delta sheet metal and PJ mechanical were the mechanical contractors for the project and installers of eFlow products. Sven is the second-tallest building in Queens with 958 residences ranging from studios to three bedrooms of which 288 of which are income restricted.

About eFlow-MAX 

eFlow-MAX is a field adjustable High Capacity Constant Airflow Regulator. It is designed to operate within Pressure Range: 0.2 to 4.0 in w.g. (50-1000Pa), automatically and precisely balance airflow into or out of a space without the need for electricity. Its design saves significant amount of energy, money and provides High Indoor Air Quality. This round damper provides pressure-independent maximum constant airflow in round duct systems without the use of electricity, sensors or controls. As pressure increases, the blade moves to keep airflow stable over a wide pressure range. eFlow-MAX has an external mechanism that can be used to adjust airflow manually, and with ease, using an allen wrench (2mm). eFlow-MAX can be easily installed inside standard ductwork. Mounting may be horizontal or vertical. eFlow-MAX features laser-welded, heavy galvanized steel body, plastic airflow control and an airtight seal to ensure no-leak fit. eFlow-MAX is maintenance free and corrosion-proof under normal conditions.

eFlow-CAR is a simple solution to balancing ventilation systems. Constant Airflow Regulator is a device that automatically regulates airflows in ventilation systems to constant levels. The passive control element responds to duct pressure, and requires no electric sensors, pneumatic sensors or controls. eFlow-CARs promote high indoor air quality and energy savings.
