211 West 29th Street, NYC is Passive House Institute Certified! 

Installation of eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators at 211 West 29th Street, New York, NY contributed to the project obtaining a Passive House Institute Certification. 

The Passive House Institute (PHI) is an independent research institute and is the only internationally recognized performance-based energy standard in construction.

Designed by ZH Architects, EP Engineering and Steven Winter Associates -Passive House consultants, 211 West 29th Street, NYC is currently one of the tallest Passive House building in the world. This 24 story mixed use project has 55 residential apartments, 17 of which are designated affordable housing apartments, as well as a commercial retail space on the ground floor.

200 Central Park South, New York, NY 

HVAC system upgrades completed at 200 Central Park South, NYC were designed by  En-Power Group and included installation of  eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators to promote High Indoor Air Quality and Energy Savings .

eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators automatically balance airflow without the need for onsite balancing or the need for electricity. It mitigates stack effect caused by pressure variances in high-rise buildings and promotes energy savings, High Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and improves overall occupant comfort.

The building was built in 1963. It has 35 stories and 309 apartments . It is owned by Park South Tenants Co. and Managed by Greenthal Management.

This 35-story tower is one of the most distinctive in NYC with its broadly curved corner and continuous bands of balconies in its 21-story base.

Built by Bernard Spitzer and Melvin D. Lipman, and designed by Wechsler & Schimenti, this tower commands spectacular views of Central Park.

This white-glove building’s amenities and services include 24-hour doorman/concierge, manned elevators, fitness center, bike room, on-site garage, circular driveway, valet service, central laundry, and roof observatory with views of Central Park and the city skyline.

1932 Bryant Avenue, Bronx, New York

The 15-story affordable housing development at 1932 Bryant Avenue, in The Bronx’s West Farms neighborhood will feature eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators.

West Farms is expected to welcome residents by 2020, and will comprise over 314,000 square feet of total space with 319 rent-stabilized, affordable apartments, 12,000 square feet of retail, and a 9,000-square-foot community facility. Residential amenity spaces will include co-working space,bike storage, and a landscaped courtyard.

With energy costs soaring, everyone is looking for effective ways to save energy. By installing eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators (eFlow-CAR) in bathroom and kitchen exhaust vents, building operators are able to accurately and automatically control the airflow. While having the airflow automatically balanced improves the indoor air quality, the greatest savings come from the reduced load on facilities’ heating and cooling systems. eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators are inexpensive option to balance ventilation systems. eFlow-CARs require no electricity and are easy to install.

112 St. Edwards Street, Fort Greene

eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators (eFlow-CARs) will be a part of the ventilation system at 112 St. Edwards Street. These devices automatically regulate and balance airflow to constant levels. eFlow-CAR does not require electricity, sensors or controls. The eFlow-CAR compensates for changes in duct pressure caused by thermal stack effect and provides a low-cost solution to balancing forced-air systems, eliminating the need for on-site balancing. eFlow-CAR promotes energy savings and ensures high indoor air quality for human occupancy. 

BFC Partners has partnered with NYCHA and Marvel Architects to develop affordable building for LGBTQ seniors. 112 St. Edwards Street features 18-story and146 affordable units. It is 28,790 square feet and rises 195 feet to its rooftop.

eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators (CAR) Low Pressure (LP) are designed for systems with in (0.08” wc -0.4” wc) pressure range. eFlow-CARs LP are devices that automatically regulate airflow in ventilation systems to constant levels without the use of electricity, sensors or controls. The eFlow-CAR LP is a low-cost solution to balancing forced-air systems for heating, air conditioning and ventilation, eliminating the need for on-site balancing while promoting energy savings and high indoor air quality.

The Livonia affordable housing, Brooklyn NY

Targeting LEED Silver certification! The Livonia, affordable housing development in Brooklyn NY is a four-building complex. It features  292 apartments of affordable housing and provides 30,000 square feet of community and retail space for the growing neighborhood.
NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) and the New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC) together with Magnusson Architecture and Planning (MAP) enlisted Steven Winter Associates, Inc. to provide energy analysis, sustainability consulting, and the third-party verification with the quality assurance standards. 
Steven Winters Associates implemented numerous green building strategies including energy savings and Indoor Environmental Quality. 
eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators were chosen and installed at the Livonia apartments to automatically balance airflow, promote energy savings and High IAQ .

Jericho House at 2013 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd, NYC

We, at eFlow are proud to have played a small role in the Jericho Supportive housing residence program.

eFlow -Constant Airflow Regulators were installed at Jericho Projects to provide High Indoor Air Quality, Automatic Airflow Balancing and Energy Savings. 

For more than 30 years, Jericho Project has provided housing and life-changing services to homeless and at-risk individuals and families in New York City.

Jericho’s Supportive Housing Program supports 474 units of supportive housing residences. 

Supportive housing is affordable housing with on-site services that help formerly homeless, disabled tenants live in dignity within the community.

Supportive housing is the most humane and cost-effective solution for ending homelessness.  

Supportive housing is permanent and affordable – all tenants hold leases and pay about a third of their income in rent. The residences are owned and operated by nonprofit organizations – and are accountable to their city, state, and federal funders.

211 West 29th Street, NYC, built to Passive House standards

Manhattans’s second-largest building built to Passive House standards, 211 West 29th Street, NYC, will feature eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators! 

This building now rises 24 stories and will house 55 rental units. Once completed, 211 West 29th Street will be a mixed-use, mixed-income (affordable and market-rate) rental building. 

The building is being built to Passive House standards under the supervision of  Steven Winter Associates Energy Consultant and will offer apartment layouts ranging from studios to three-bedroom units and will have passive house features such as lower energy consumption for the entire building. 

Passive house is a rigorous standard for energy efficiency in a building which results in ultra-low-energy buildings that require little energy for space heating or cooling.

According to the official website of New York Passive House Inc., this type of construction “delivers up to approximately a 90% reduction in heating and cooling demand and up to a 75% reduction in overall primary energy demand” compared to most existing buildings.

Overseen by En-Power Group, ventilation upgrades at 265 Cherry Street were a huge success!
 
Driven by a New York incentive program to promote energy savings and High Indoor Air Quality, eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators (CAR’s)  (a non-electrical powered devices) were installed at 265 cherry street, NYC.  As a result, this large-scale multifamily residence (250 apartments) now has improved Indoor Air Quality, Automatic Airflow Balance and Energy Savings for years to come!
